Sensei Jon Luque

Jon Luque founded the Dojo of Maitland in 2008 and he is the chief instructor of the Dojo of Maitland. Mr. Luque began his martial arts training at the age of five in Tae Kwon Do. At eleven, Mr. Luque studied and trained in Shito-Ryu Karate. 

Since 1997, he has had the opportunity to perfect his skills in martial arts with instruction from some of the finest instructors, coaches, and organizations from around the world. Sensei Luque is an accomplished martial artist and has represented the United States by being a competitor on the AAU USA Team and on the IAKSA USA Team competing in the United States, Canada, Switzerland, and Japan. Mr. Luque has won state, national, and world titles. When teaching students competitive karate, one of his main goals is to teach students to be a humble winner as well as a gracious runner up.   
 
In his ten years of directing after-school and summer camp programs, Jon captivates students with his soaring enthusiasm in martial arts, and teaches a high quality and a high content program in a down-to-earth format. He presents a wealth of techniques and strategies in helping students stay fit and gain energy, build confidence, teach respect, in a fun and nurturing environment. 
 
Mr. Luque is ranked a second-degree black belt in Shito-Ryu karate and also holds a black belt in Katsugo Karate. Some of Mr. Luque’s career highlights are:
